Dr. Evelyn Gitau is the Director of Research Capacity Strengthening and Interim Director Research, African Population and Health Research Center. She has more than 20 years of medical research history, cultivating a new generation of researchers throughout Africa committed to solving global health challenges. Her research focused on generating evidence to develop disease biomarkers for infections in seriously ill children. She participates in several grant review boards. She has served on numerous advisory boards for organizations advancing Africa's research and evidence-generation agenda, including at the University of Oxford, the Crick-Africa Network, the Lemleson Foundation, and the Perivoli Africa Research Centre (Bristol University). Amongst her many appointments is being a member of the WHO Technical Advisory Group working on the Development of Guidance on Best Practices for Clinical Trials.
